Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!!

The Spring Season is FAST approaching (hopefully), Picture Weekend is upon us and before you know it summer and Showtime will be here.

The students have been working hard all year on new and old techniques, new curriculum, terminology, and dances for the upcoming 64th Anniversary Recital “Entertainment” at the Alberta Kimball Auditorium on Sat. June 1st at 1:00 & 7:00 PM. Tickets are ON SALE NOW!


We are excited to share in the opportunity for the inaugural St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Tent Party hosted by Oshkosh Irish Fest.  Please join us on Saturday, March 16 at 547 N. Main Street starting at 4:00 pm. $5 admission (free for children 12 and younger).

Richard’s School of the Dance Irish Dancers will be performing at 7:30 PM right after the parade and prior to Dublin 5 (The Rovers) performance at 8:00 PM.

The parade starts off from Opera House Square at 6:30 pm. Fun for ALL ages!!

This unique blend allows a focus on strength and flexibility training, while offering deep muscle toning, the grace of ballet, the flexibility of yoga and the core strengthening of Pilates. This total body conditioning technique & intense workout will transform and sculpt your entire body.

This total body workout is an efficient and safe form of exercise. It incorporates use of a ballet barre, hand weights, and a yoga ball to help tone your body. Exercises will tend to be small (Plies, releves), focusing on deep toning and sculpting. Other movements used in class focus on larger, more sweeping movements that require more flexibility and coordination (battements, arabesques and tendus). The class is set to music, builds strength, endurance and flexibility.  Combining all these quality aspects from each discipline also makes this a low impact workout and easy on the joints.

I’m so very excited and proud to announce that the Richard’s Competition team brought home gold awards for their Jazz and Lyrical routines at this year’s Chicago National Association of Dance Masters (CNADM) Student Competition.  This is Richard’s 3rd year offering this fun and enriching opportunity to students and each year they have amazed the judges and brought home at least one gold award!

To add to the excitement, this year was the 100th anniversary of CNADM.  The CNADM has been a huge part of Richard’s for the last 60 years.  Richard Verhoeven, the founder of Richard’s has been a member since 1952 and was even the president of CNADM between 1987 and 1989.

This year 2 of the staff and myself attended the teacher training seminar and conference growing not only our skills but improving how well we can pass those skills on to the students.  We are all excited to bring the new ideas to our upcoming season!
